Polio Awareness Walk Organized in Matiari

The district administration organized a Polio Inauguration and Awareness Walk in Matiari ahead of the National Immunization Days (NIDs) from 2nd to 5th February 2026. The walk started from the DHO Office Matiari and ended at the Press Club Matiari.Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh led the walk along with District Health Officer Dr. Asif Hussain Shah. The event highlighted the district’s strong commitment to eradicating polio.

Officials and Departments Participated

Several officials from different departments joined the awareness walk. These included Miss Iqra Jannat (ADC-II), Abdul Sattar Shaikh (AC Matiari), Dr. Mazahir Buriro (AC Hala), Miss Preh Arbab (AC Under Training), Sadaf Akbar (DEO Primary), Imam Bux Magsi (CCO Matiari), Erum Jalal (Additional Director Social Welfare), Dr. Nazeer Mallah (ADHO-P), Dr. Samina Kaka (ADHO-P), Dr. Zahid Sadar (THO Matiari), Dr. Abdul Hussain (DDHO), Dr. Shahzaib Shah (DDHO), Dr. Fareena (DDHO), Dr. Ali Raza (Assistant DHO), Dr. Asif Abro (Assistant DHO), Dr. Babar (FPSIAs), Saqlain Shah (ADPWO), and Dr. Sheeraz Ansari (Assistant DHO).Their participation showed strong inter-departmental support for the polio campaign.

648 Teams to Vaccinate Over 181,000 Children

While addressing participants, the Deputy Commissioner announced that 648 polio teams will operate across Matiari district. These include 595 mobile teams, 37 fixed teams, and 16 transit teams.The teams will conduct door-to-door vaccination and administer polio drops to 181,722 children under five years of age. He urged parents to cooperate fully so that no child remains unvaccinated.District Health Officer Dr. Asif Hussain Shah added that parents should immediately inform the health department if any child misses vaccination. He stressed that timely polio drops protect children from lifelong disability.

Community Appreciates the Initiative

Parents, teachers, and community members appreciated the awareness walk. They stated that such activities build public trust in health services and support national efforts to eliminate polio.The District Matiari Polio Inauguration & Awareness Walk concluded with a vote of thanks and renewed commitment from district authorities to ensure the success of the NIDs campaign.
