In April 2025, lawyers in Sukkur protested strongly against the construction of six new canals on the Indus River, fearing it would destroy Sindh’s water rights.
They blocked roads, boycotted courts, and raised their voices for Sindh’s future.
However, during a peaceful sit-in at Khairpur, unknown attackers fired on sleeping protesters, injuring three people.
Despite the violence, the protest continued with more strength.
The lawyers demanded the immediate cancellation of the canal project, warning of bigger movements if ignored.
This protest became a symbol of Sindh’s fight for its water and land.
