Police seen deployed in Karachi
The Sindh Rawadari March Committee’s call for the Rawadari Tahreek has met with a significant government response, as authorities have imposed Section 144 in Karachi. This action, which restricts public gatherings, effectively prevents civil rights groups from conducting the planned march aimed at raising their voices against religious extremism in Sindh.
The march was seen as a direct protest against the recent killing of Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar in Umerkot. Dr. Kunbhar was accused of blasphemy and was killed in what many have termed a staged encounter by the Mirpurkhas police. The incident has sparked a heated debate, both on social media and in public discourse, with divided opinions emerging—some supporting the police action, while others strongly condemning it as a miscarriage of justice. The Rawadari Tahreek was intended to highlight these concerns and challenge the growing influence of extremism.
